With its French influence, Restaurants in Tahiti are excellent. There are several fine restaurants in Papeete with fresh sushi bars above the Papeete Market and lots of great cafes and budget eateries on the streets, notably along the waterfront. All around French Polynesia and Moorea you'll come across small restaurants where you'll get great food. Even the large resort restaurants have great dining which is rarity amongst the other South Pacific destinations.

Nightlife too is good, but restricted to Papeete and a few spots around west Tahiti and the north coast of Moorea. On all the outer islands, nightlife is limited to resort entertainment which includes traditional dance shows and feast nights - these are not to be missed and French Polynesian dancing is amongst the best in the South Pacific.
