Hawaii has some of the worlds greatest golf resorts and courses. Hugging cliffs and entwined in valleys and rainforest, this American State excels in perfect golf courses. But green fees are expensive - and golf carts are often an even pricier necessity. Kauai and Maui have the most courses - most with country club condominiums and high rise resorts. There are also a number of lovely, well presented public and municipal courses around the islands, but whilst cheaper they are often extremely busy.

Fiji is the only other South Pacific island with a dedicated championship golf resorts - on Denarau Island outside Nadi There are two other championship style courses including one at Pacific Harbour on the south coast of Fiji, and the Fiji Golf Club in Suva. Several resorts have their own private 9-hole courses for their guests.

Samoa has two good 18-hole championship golf courses around Apia and most hotels can arrange discounted green fees and transport.

Tahiti has a championship golf course on the south-west coast of Tahiti, but no resort nearby.

Cook Islands has a small 9-hole course on Rarotonga open to the public as well as a flat 9-hole course on Aitutaki.
