The main North American hubs for the South Pacific Islands are Los Angeles and Hawaii (Honolulu). Flights from all other cities need to connect to one of these. Airlines with direct flights from Los Angeles to the south pacific islands include Air New Zealand (Tahiti, Cook islands, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa), Air France (Tahiti), Air Pacific (Fiji), Hawaiian (American Samoa, Tahiti) and Aloha Airlines (Cook Islands).
Air New Zealand fly direct from Los Angeles to Hawaii (daily), Nadi (2/week), Tahiti (3/week all connecting on to Cook Islands), Cook Islands (1 week) and Samoa (1/week connecting on to Tonga). Air New Zealand also operate 2 daily flight direct to Auckland with connections back to Tonga (1/week). Air Pacific fly direct to Nadi (3/week, 1 of which connects on to Tonga). Air Pacific also operate direct flights from Hawaii (3/week, two of which connect from Vancouver). Air France operate direct flights from Los Angeles to Tahiti. Hawaiian Airlines fly to American Samoa and Tahiti and Aloha Airlines offer a twice weekly flight from Vancouver to Cook Islands via Hawaii (reduced to one a week between May and September). Polynesian Airlines fly from Hawaii and LA to Samoa.
Continental are the main carrier to the Micronesian Islands with direct flights to Marshall Islands, FSM, Guam, Marianas and Palau.
Flying from South America is more tricky - the only airline with direct flights is Lan Chile connecting Santiago with Tahiti and Easter Island on a weekly basis. Otherwise, you will have to connect via Los Angeles.
