Hawaii Whale Watching
Although whale watching in Hawaii is touted in all the islands, the protected Auau Channel and shallow warm waters off the west coast of Maui are undoubtedly the best place in Hawaii to watch whales. And one of the most appealing reasons is that whale watching is excellent viewed from the shoreline where the humpback whales can be left undisturbed and pollution from boats is avoided.

McGregor Point overlooking Maalaea Bay offers excellent vantage points for spotting humpback whales. The best times are early morning and late evenings when between the months of November to April (some still around in late May), whales will almost certainly be spotted breaching, fluking and head slapping, and if you're lucky, you'll spot a calf too. The calving season starts in late January, and although actual births are never witnessed, the calves come close to shore.
