Hawaii

Hawaii is an excellent destination for exploring the environment through National Parks and learning about the rich Polynesian past through resurrected historical sites and learning centres. However, the living culture of the indigenous Polynesian people has all but vanished, only being resurrected in recent times due to global awareness of indigenous rights. Whilst most of the hotels adhere to US environmental policies, these are none-the-less part of a very commercial industry with most hotels being multi-storey monsters of steel and cement.
