A Fiji holiday is the perfect recipe for relaxation and sightseeing, with stunning beaches on secluded small islands making it the best destination in the South Pacific for a romantic wedding or active family holiday. There are hundreds of remote palm-fringed beaches, tiny coral islands and small intimate resorts with beach side thatch bungalows scattered around the islands. And there's lots to do during the day for the more active Fiji honeymooners from scuba diving to exploring the local environment. Nightlife is very quiet with serenading, sunset cocktails and watching local traditional dances under the stars. Night clubbing is almost non-existent. The Fijian people however are warm, friendly and extremely courteous making their hospitality one of the islands greatest assets.

Most of the resorts in Fiji offer great wedding packages. This usually includes a beach side altar and marriage celebrant, exotic flowers, champagne and beautifully dressed local Fijians singing in harmony.

The climate is tropical, ranging from 32C in Jan (wet season - summer) to 28C in July (dry season - winter). Nadi Airport, on the western side of the main island of Viti Levu, is the hub of South Pacific air routes and is the major stop over for flights between North America and Australia / New Zealand. Visas are granted to most nationals on arrival for a period of four months. English is the National language with Fijians speaking local dialects and Indians speaking Urdu.

The country is made up of over 300 islands. There are seven distinguishable island groups surrounding the largest and most influential island of Viti Levu with the international airport (Nadi) and capital city (Suva). With the exception of Rotuma and the Lau Group, all the islands are relatively close to each others and are easy to get to, if not by small plane then by fast catamaran, ferry or local fishing boats. The larger islands are volcanic and therefore quite rugged and good for exploring. The exceptions are the tiny low lying coral atolls which are found scattered throughout the group.

Fiji has a population of almost 800,000, half being indigenous Fijians and the other half Indians of both Hindu and Muslim belief. Nearly three-quarters of the population live on the main island of Viti Levu.
